The IPCC Sixth Assessment Report highlights the harmful impact of disinformation on climate action, stating that “disinformation resulting in public misperception of climate risks is delaying urgent adaptation planning and implementation.” Addressing climate disinformation is crucial to empowering people of all generations to take meaningful action on adaptation.

In this context, the Adaptation AGORA project is co-organizing an online webinar on Disinformation and Climate Adaptation in collaboration with TU Environmental Initiative (TUUWI), a student-led organization from the Technical University of Dresden committed to climate justice, sustainability, social transformation, and responsible resource use.

During the webinar, Paula Gori from EDMO will introduce the topic, laying the foundation for a discussion on how disinformation shapes public perception and understanding of climate change. The event will bring together students from universities in Sweden and Germany, offering them the opportunity to explore the Adaptation AGORA projectand discover its innovative tools, designed to engage citizens in an educational and interactive way. These tools aim to help participants identify and counter climate disinformation while promoting local adaptation strategies.

For over 20 years, TUUWI has been organizing environmental lecture series to connect students with scientific facts and raise awareness of environmental challenges. In this context, this webinar will contribute to capacity building and climate literacy among younger generations, equipping them with the knowledge to navigate one of the biggest challenges in climate science and communication today.
