Visit the official event page for more details and daily agendas

CMCC Foundation hosts the annual events of the CoastPredict UN Ocean Decade Programme and the Decade Collaborative Centre for Coastal Resilience (DCC-CR) in Lecce from February 3rd to 7th, 2025.

This gathering will bring together leading international experts to advance global coastal resilience under the UN Ocean Decade framework.

The GlobalCoast Network Assembly will take place for the first time, marking a significant milestone in global collaboration. It will initiate an international cooperative network dedicated to enhancing coastal resilience. This network will play a pivotal role in developing joint projects and sharing methodologies to strengthen forecasting of coastal ocean hazards and long-term adaptation to coastal climate change.

Key discussions will highlight innovative solutions contributing to the “Menu of Solutions” for coastal ocean observing and predicting. The event will also foster strategic partnerships with organizations advancing cloud infrastructure, satellite data applications, and private-sector services to support resilience-building efforts.

Programme Highlights:

  • 3 February | FLAME Workshop: organized by the National Oceanography Center – UK, will focus on designing standard protocols for climate downscaling in the global coastal ocean.
  • 3 February | DCC-CR Annual Programme Committee Meeting: will convene experts to discuss strategic planning for coastal resilience (by invitation only).
  • 4-5 February | CoastPredict General Assembly: will review progress and set future priorities for the CoastPredict programme.
  • 5-6 February | GlobalCoast Network Assembly: will officially launch an international collaborative network featuring country representatives from the Philippines, Trinidad and Tobago, Nigeria, Fiji, Mexico, Ghana, Malaysia, Thailand and Barbados.
  • 6-7 February | DCC-CR / CoastPredict Joint Workshop: Empowering Early Career Ocean Professionals (ECOPs) for Coastal Resilience in the face of Climate Change.

These events represent an invaluable opportunity for researchers, scientists, and climate change experts to exchange knowledge, strengthen collaborations, and engage in discussions that will shape the future of coastal resilience. International gatherings like these foster cross-disciplinary dialogue, encourage innovative solutions and drive tangible progress in mitigating coastal climate risks. They also provide a platform for Early Career Ocean Professionals to gain visibility, network with experts, and contribute meaningfully to the global effort of coastal resilience.
