General aims
Support the EEA in specific tasks identified in the EEA strategy and specified in the EEA Annual Management Plans (AMPs) in the area of climate change impacts, vulnerability and adaptation across Europe, including improving information among European countries on:
- data and indicators on climate change and its impacts across sectors and regions;
- assessment of climate change vulnerabilities and natural hazard risks to society and ecosystems;
- current or planned adaptation strategies and actions.
CMCC Role
Concerning the management, CMCC core team is devoted to the organization, running and monitoring of activities, the timely preparation of reports and sending of deliverables, the coordination of all partners within the different research areas, the preparation of project-wide meetings, and the regular communication with the EEA about the work progress.
As task manager or deputy manager also, CMCC directs the work of supporting:
- the development and implementation of the EU Clearinghouse on climate change impacts, vulnerability and adaptation (Adaptation Clearinghouse for Europe – ACE), following the EU White Paper on Adaptation (1 April 2009);
- the EIONET (European Environment Information and Observation Network) workshop on climate change impacts, vulnerability and adaptation, and networkig.
With its expertise, CMCC also contributes to the activities on:
- climate change impacts indicators (SEIS);
- climate change and disaster risk assessments (EU Flood Impact Database);
- mapping of hazard risks/climate change vulnerability and methods for adaptation costs (coastal systems and river floods).
Activity
Pursuant to the ETC/CCA Implementation Plan (IP) 2011, the activities during 2011 are organized in the following “Projects” and “Tasks”:
- Project 2.0.1. – Climate change impacts (SEIS)
– Task 2.0.1.1. – Updated climate change impact indicators - Project 2.0.2 – Support GMES and ClimateWatch Eye on Earth service
