Vasconcellos Álvaro

Alvaro is a specialist in meteorology with an emphasis on surface modeling and energy balance feedback between the land surface and the atmosphere. He completed his master’s degree at the Federal University of Pelotas (UFPEL), where he worked with radiation modeling in regional weather prediction models. His doctorate was obtained at the National Institute for Space Research (INPE), focusing on surface modeling and the development of the South America Land Data Assimilation 2 (SALDAS-2).

Currently, he is part of the CMCC, working in the Earth System Data Assimilation (ESYDA) division. His activities involve data assimilation in land surface models. Additionally, he collaborates on the creation of a 20-year surface reanalysis, CEMS2/CLM5, under the EU-Copernicus Climate Change Service Evolution (CERISE) project.
