Valentina Scardigno obtained her Master’s degree in Computer Engineering at the University of Salento with honors, presenting a thesis entitled: “A TreeTalkerFire-based IoT system for fire danger prevention and monitoring”, that contributes to the OFIDIA2 project (Operational FIre Danger preventIon platform 2) funded by the Interreg V-A Greece-Italy Programme.
The thesis concerns the real-time observation of trees ecophysiology and meteorological parameters by advanced wireless IoT sensors, their elaboration, processing and storage in a Time Series Database and the implementation of monitoring dashboards for user interaction, with the objective of helping stakeholders make informed decisions on fire mitigation and smoke haze pollution.
