Eric obtained his PhD in experimental particle physics at the University of Nijmegen, The Netherlands. After finishing his PhD, he joined University College London as a research associate, being based at the CERN laboratory in Geneva, Switzerland. Here he worked on the ATLAS experiment at the Large Hadron Collider (LHC). In addition to analysing the vast amounts of data produced by the ATLAS detector, he was responsible for the data visualisation software and its operation in the detector control room.
In 2015 he moved to CMCC in Lecce, where he is working in the Ocean Predictions and Applications division. His research currently focuses on modelling the trajectories of persons and objects lost at sea for search-and-rescue purposes.
