Stefania Gottardo holds a PhD in Environmental Science at the University Ca’ Foscari of Venice with focus on ecological risk assessment, environmental indicators and decision support tools. She is an expert on chemical and nanomaterial safety assessment with knowledge on the associated regulatory aspects in the EU, including the recent policy initiatives driven by the Green Deal (Chemicals Strategy for Sustainability, Safe- and Sustainable-by-Design). She participated in several EU-funded research projects (MODELKEY, ENPRA, ITS-NANO, MARINA, NANoREG, GRACIOUS). She worked as a Contractual Agent at the European Commission Joint Research Centre (JRC Ispra) and contributed to regulatory initiatives such as NANO-SUPPORT and the EFSA inventory on nanotechnology applications. She supported the development of Test Guidelines and Guidance Documents by the OECD Working Party on Manufactured Nanomaterials and was a member of the ECHA Nanomaterial Expert Group and of the US-EU Community of Research on Nanomaterial Risk Assessment. She has more than 20 publications in peer-reviewed journals and authored several JRC reports. She has recently joint the CMCC Risk Assessment and Adaptation Strategies (RAAS) Division to support the coordination and supervision of research activities within the projects MYRIAD-EU, REST-COAST and ADRIACLIM
