Giacomo Falchetta is a Researcher at the ECIP division of the Euro-Mediterranean Center on Climate Change (CMCC). In parallel, he has a scientific affiliation with the International Institute for Applied Systems Analysis (IIASA), in Vienna, Austria.

Giacomo is an energy and environmental economist with a strongly multidisciplinary background. His core working areas include energy poverty in the developing world; the assessment of climate change impacts on energy demand and supply; the water-energy-food-nexus and its linkage with climate change adaptation; and the use of geospatial and remote sensing analysis techniques to address sustainable development challenges.

Previously, he worked as a Researcher at FEEM – Fondazione Eni Enrico Mattei – whilst completing his PhD, awarded from the Department of International Economics, Institutions and Development at the Catholic University of Milan. He holds a MSc. In Environmental Economics and Climate Change from the London School of Economics, and a BSc. in Economics and Social Sciences from the Free University of Bozen-Bolzano.

Besides working, Giacomo enjoys playing music and doing water sports.
