Juan Carlos Cerda Chacon holds a Bachelor’s with a major in Physics from the Universidad de Colima and an M.Sc. in Earth Sciences from CICESE. He has experience in different areas such as Geophysics, Geothermal Reservoirs, Physical Oceanography, and Oil spill forecasting, where he has been working on the implementation and operation of numerical models. He has developed several scientific tools to process, analyze, and visualize data generated by numerical models and in-situ measurements. He is part of the operational group as a Senior Research Associate in the ROFS division at CMCC, working on the development, porting, and migration of the operational chains for the Global Forecasting System, Mediterranean Forecasting System, and Coastal models.
