Jordan Bishop is a researcher in the RAAS (Risk Assessment and Adaptation Strategies) Division at CMCC in Venice. While at CMCC, he will work in support of the RAAS division as part of NBRACER, DESIREMED, MaCoBios, as well as other projects. Prior to joining CMCC, he worked for NEIWPCC, a regional commission that helps the states of the Northeast (United States) preserve and advance water quality. His projects there directly supported the Long Island Sound Study (LISS) and were related to wetlands, coastal habitat restoration, and nature based solutions (NbS) surrounding the urbanized Long Island Sound.
Jordan’s research interests intersect at the nexus of climate change, aquatic ecology, and phycology. He holds a PhD in Ecology granted from Charles University in Prague, CZ, where he investigated the structure and composition limnoterrestrial diatom communities of Antarctica.
Prior to his doctoral work, Jordan investigated diatom shape change between extant and extinct members of a diatom genus. This work led to an MS in Ecology and Evolutionary Biology from the University of Connecticut, USA and a BA in Environmental Studies from Connecticut College, USA.
