Chiara Aquino holds a PhD in Atmospheric and Environmental Sciences from the University of Edinburgh (UK), where she focused on mapping tropical forest degradation using a combination of remote sensing, aerial LiDAR and forest inventory data from the Amazon and Central Africa rainforests. She has expertise in satellite image processing, geospatial analysis and the design and management of field inventory surveys, applied to land cover/use change mapping. She is a keen supporter of open, collaborative science and an advocate for critical remote sensing and geoethics.
