Abstract
Community engagement and empowerment are crucial elements for the success of any project. They play a vital role in informing communities about the challenges that impact their homes and empowering them to take action.
SeaPaCS and Save the Waves represent two distinct approaches to coastal community engagement. SeaPaCS is a European-funded project that focuses on data collection and actively involves local communities in the process. On the other hand, Save the Waves is a non-profit organization dedicated to the preservation of surfing spots. They have developed the ‘Save the Waves App’ which places the monitoring process directly into the hands of users, thereby promoting community involvement.
