Abstract
Machine learning (ML) algorithms are a new wave for many applications.In the presentation, ML approaches are employed for a very intensive computing process: Data Assimilation (DA), with a significant reduction of the computational effort. Beyond the pre-processing phase (DA), ML are also employed to hybrid prediction (model based on differential equation + data driven model) and for predictability (prediction uncertainty quantification). Results with limited area atmospheric (WRF-NCAR) and ocean circulation (2D shallow water) models are used to illustrate the ML framework.
