ECEMF Project Final Event
9 April 2025 – Bruxelles, Belgium

An engaging and policy-oriented opportunity to explore the findings of the European Climate and Energy Modelling Forum (ECEMF)—a Horizon 2020-funded project in which CMCC is a partner. The project aim was to establish a European forum for energy and climate researchers and policy makers to achieve climate neutrality.

In the first session of the project’s final event, titled “ Electrification: A feasible pathway to a climate-neutral European Union”,  the project researchers will explain how the ECEMF model comparison results show a robust pathway to EU climate neutrality. This will be followed by a presentation of some of the disparities in costs and benefits of the transition. These two short presentations will be followed by an interactive panel discussion involving ECEMF consortium members and policy and industry representatives.

The second session will further build on results from ECEMF, which show that electrification is a robust strategy for the transition to climate neutrality. The key attributes of these transformative electrification pathways across supply and demand will be presented and the role of hydrogen discussed. An interactive panel discussion will follow involving short interventions from a range of stakeholders.

Highlights:

  • Findings from EC-funded European Climate & Energy Modelling Forum
  • Clear pathways to EU climate neutrality
  • Cost-benefit analysis of the transition
  • Electrification as key strategy
  • Interactive discussions with policy & industry leaders
