The Sixth School on “Statistical Analysis in Climate Research” is organized in Lecce, Italy, from October 6th– 16th 2009, as a follow-up of the School on Climate Statistics on the island of Elba in 1993. The organizers of the sixth school are  Hans von Storch, Antonio Navarra and Francis Zwiers that have commonly decided to repeat the event, in the same spirit as in 1993. Some of the concepts dealt with in 1993 were again on the agenda, but also some new ones were presented, such as co-integration, long memory and networks, historical reconstructions, quality assurance of statistical models using extended climate simulations and so on. The school is designed for  diploma and PhD students and Postdocs with a background of metereology, climate science, earth science, geology, or physical oceanography.

A fee of 500 € is required to cover the accomodation and meals and also to support students who are unable to cover the fee. Some scholarships are available for students who are unable to cover the  fee. If you want to apply for financial support, please send a cv and a list of publications to Mrs. Liesner.

For application, please send a notice to: Mrs. Ilona Liesner, GKSS, Max-Planck-Strasse, D-21502 Geesthacht, email: [email protected]
