EUCRA – The European Climate Risk Assessment

This contract will aim at carrying out the European Climate Risk Assessment (EUCRA). EUCRA will address the climate risks in Europe and will establish a European baseline of climate risks on which countries can build on their national assessments.

21 Months from 09/11/2022 to 31/07/2024

General aims

General objectives
This contract will aim at carrying out the European Climate Risk Assessment (EUCRA). The main policy purposes of EUCRA are: 

  • to support the identification of adaptation-related policy priorities for the next European Commission (to be nominated in 2024).
  • to support the prioritization of adaptation-related investments for the next multi-annual financial framework (MFF) of the European Union.
  • to support EU policy development in climate-sensitive sectors.
  • to provide an EU-wide point of reference for conducting and updating national or subnational climate risk assessments.

CMCC role
CMCC is the project coordinator, and it is involved in the implementation of all tasks. In particular, CMCC is also co-leading task 3 (Knowledge management and Interactive data viewer), task 6 (Risk identification and analysis), task 7 (Risk evaluation and priorities for action) and task 8 (Community of Practice).

  • Task 5: Risk drivers 
  • Task 6: Risk identification and analysis

  • The EUCRA report on the main results of the European Climate Risk Assessment
  • The EUCRA Report Executive Summary
  • Complementary products, such as an interactive viewer and policy briefs.
