ALP’AERA: support for air quality and climate management in the Alpine areas Alcotra

The ALP’AERA project focuses on the production of climate data with high spatial and temporal resolution, both for a reference period and for future climate scenarios in the ALCOTRA alpine areas.

General aims

The main objective is to provide climate scenario data (CMIP6-driven) to be used as input for air quality models and climate change studies at the local scale, with particular focus on the Alpine areas Alcotra.

CMCC role
Responsible for the production and processing of high-resolution CMIP6 climate scenarios over the Italy-France domain, using the COSMO-CLM regional climate model.

Activities
Climate simulations over the EUROPEAN and ALCOTRA domains, with spatial resolutions of 12 km and 3 km respectively, for 10-year periods covering the experiments: historical, SSP1-2.6 and SSP3-7.0 scenarios (CMIP6).

Expected results
climate date and indicators
