Olga Vigiak is a senior researcher in the field of physical geography, specialized in land degradation processes and natural resources conservation management. She holds a Master in Tropical Agriculture Sciences (UniFI, Italy), a MSc in Soil erosion and soil and water conservation (WUR, The Netherlands), and a PhD in Production Ecology and Resources Conservation (WUR, The Netherlands).
She has worked on soil erosion process in Africa (Eritrea, Tanzania), management of riparian land in South-East Asia (Lao PDR), water quality and river basin management in Australia (Victoria), development of environmental indicators, decision support tools, and scenario analysis assessments in Europe (Joint Research Centre) to inform European policy impact on the environment, particularly on water habitats.
Her researcher interests include environmental modelling, water pollution, assessment of natural resource conditions from land to sea, soil and water conservation, and development of environmental indicators to support decision making.
