Renata Tatsch Eidt is a post doc at the Euro-Mediterranean Center for Climate Change – CMCC and part of the Global Coastal Ocean division.

Her current research activities are on coastal ocean modelling with focus on the Adriatic Sea. Her interests include analysis of physical processes (i.e. dense water formation, overturning circulation) and extreme events (i.e. marine heat waves). She holds a PhD from the University of Bologna in ‘Future earth, climate change and societal challenges’. Her thesis focused on a dynamical downscaling framework with the implementation of the perfect model approach and a spectral nudging technique for coastal modelling.

She obtained her bachelor degree as an Oceanographer at the Federal University of Rio Grande, Brazil, working mainly with physical oceanography and CO2 fluxes in Antarctica. During this period she also spent over a year at the University of Queensland, Australia, as an exchange student. She holds a master degree in Meteorology from the National Institute of Space Research, Brazil, where she investigated the influence of extratropical oceans in extreme rainfall events over South America.
