Scalas Mattia

Mattia joined CMCC in 2023. With a degree in Territorial, Urban, Environmental and Landscape Planning with a PhD in Urban and Regional Development at Politecnico di Torino, he works with the Urban and Risk Assessment unit within the REgional Models and geo-Hydrological Impacts Division of the Climate Resilience Institute.

He is task leader within the European project CARMINE and is actively engaged in the European projects MULTICLIMACT and SDGs-EYES. He has worked in collaborative projects with Acquedotto Pugliese SPA, CAP group, the Municipality of Sassari, and the Municipality of Brescia in updating and drafting climate resilience plans.

He is specialized in planning and adaptation to climate change mainly at the urban scale, with technical expertise oriented toward spatial data management, analysis, visualization and microclimate modelling.

Within CMCC, his research is mainly oriented on 1) the study of the urban heat island phenomenon and 2) the integration of microclimate simulations and spatial data to support urban transformation for adaptation and resilience.
