Razdar Babak

via Thomas Alva Edison s.n.c. - 81100 Caserta (CE)

Babak Razdar earned his Ph.D. in Hydraulic Engineering for the Environment and Territory from the University of Calabria (2016), Italy, specializing in 1D and 2D simulations of flood propagation due to dam failures. He holds an M.Sc. in Civil Engineering – Hydraulic from Islamic Azad University (2007) and a B.Sc. in Agricultural Engineering – Irrigation from the University of Guilan (2004), both in Iran.

From 2020 to 2024, he conducted postdoctoral research at the University of Brescia, contributing to projects on urban resilience to climate change, flood modeling in industrial areas, and resilience strategies for road infrastructure affected by hydrogeologic hazards.

His research interests include:

  • Mathematical simulation of 2D shallow water equations;
  • 1D/2D numerical modeling of flood propagation;
  • Dam break analysis;
  • Water quality modeling;
  • Environmental impact assessments;
  • Hydraulic and hydrological studies;
  • Machine learning, GIS, and GNSS applications in hydraulic, hydrology, and water resource management;
  • Climate change modeling and its effects on hydraulic systems;
  • River engineering (in collaboration with the IPCC).

His current research integrates advanced computational models, GIS tools, and machine learning algorithms to address complex challenges in environmental and hydraulic systems, with a particular focus on water resource management and climate change adaptation.
