Mazzoni Annamaria

Annamaria Mazzoni is an environmental economics researcher with over 10 years of experience in international scientific institutions in the United States, Qatar, and Italy. She is currently a Senior Researcher for the SOWAS Division at the CMCC Foundation.

Previously, she worked as a researcher and project manager at the Qatar Environment and Energy Research Institute, part of the Qatar Foundation, and held positions at the University of Southern California and Caltech in the United States.

Her expertise spans water resources management, Water-Food-Energy Nexus, non-conventional water sources, water footprint and trade, hydro economic modeling, sustainable water governance and policy, and climate science, with significant experience in the SWANA region. Her current research focuses on groundwater sustainability within the Critical Earth Zone, particularly in arid and hyper-arid regions by integrating hydrological modeling, socio-economic analysis, and climate science.

Annamaria holds a PhD in Economics from the University of Turin and the Collegio Carlo Alberto, an MA in Economics and Environmental Policy from the same university and a BA in Political Science and International Studies from the University of Bologna.

With expertise in translating scientific findings into actionable insights, she excels in project management, stakeholder engagement, and interdisciplinary collaboration to deliver innovative solutions and impactful outcomes.
