Lucia Gualtieri is a Scientist at CMCC since 2023. Previously she held positions at the Lamont-Doherty Earth Observatory of Columbia University (NY, USA), Princeton University (NJ, USA), and Stanford University (CA, USA). She completed her PhD in Geophysics as a dual degree at the Institut de Physique du Globe de Paris (France) and the University of Bologna (Italy) in 2014. She holds a bachelor’s and master’s degrees in Physics from the University of Bologna.

Her research mostly encompasses theory and numerical modeling. In her work so far, she often dealt with interdisciplinary topics at the interface between Physical Oceanography, Atmospheric Science and Solid Earth Geophysics. The focus of her current research is the study of the circulation and sea state of the Mediterranean Sea through the development and analysis of numerical simulations.
