Climate Project – Oasis Observatory

Scientific research on climate and protected environments for the study of models able to face and manage the ongoing change: an objective of WWF-Oases and Euro-Mediterranean Center on Climate Change (CMCC).

The plan of the day is to show the first results of the “Programma Clima Osservatorio Oasi” and to talk about a network of monitoring and testing of the adaptation management.

What’s the Climate Program. The Oases system of WWF-Italy, that represents the main environments and natural landscapes of the country, offers places of privileged observation to study the transformations caused by climate change on natural ecosystems. These places has been selected for the multi-year project that develops a series of scientific activities for the study of climate change, as for example:

  • program of monitoring of the ecological indicators for the determination of the impact of climate change on natural ecosystems (Osservatorio Oasi);
  • Evaluation of the contribution of carbon absorption by the natural protected ecosystems in the WWF Oases;
  • Realization of a Center for the greenhouse gas monitoring and data collection on a national scale.
