The Euro-Mediterranean Center for Climate Change (CMCC) will organize a special session during the “Fourth World Congress of Environmental and Resource Economists” that will take place in Montreal from the 28th of June to the 2nd of July 2010 on :
“Climate Impacts and Policy in the Mediterranean Region”

Deadline for the submission of the papers : the 31st of January, 2010.
The aim of this session is to present multi-disciplinary and integrated results on the nature and mechanism of climate variability, its impacts and their economic consequences in the Mediterranean area, in order to provide insights on the role of climate change in this highly sensitive area. The session will focus on :
- the diagnosis and forecast of the impacts of climatic changes in all the sectors already penalised by existing and historical problems: water and coastal zone management, agriculture, tourism, energy etc.
- the economic valuation of the climate change impacts in the different sectors and their interconnections
- the appropriate policies of emission reduction and of adaptation to climatic change as opportunity to guide the economic development of the Mediterranean region in a more sustainable direction.
The session will be opened to multi-disciplinary contributions from scientists who study economic and policy dimensions of climate change with a particular focus on the Mediterranean area
