Francesco Carere holds a position as a post-degree HPC programmer in the Advanced Scientific Computing (ASC) Division.
After obtaining bachelors in mathematics and physics, he graduated in 2022 in Mathematical Sciences (specialization in applied maths) at Utrecht University, with a master thesis on structure preserving numerical methods for Hamiltonian ODE.
Interested in combining mathematics and research on climate change, he joined CMCC in 2023 where he is currently working on performance optimization of the SHYFEM-MPI ocean model.

At the moment he is focussing on further developing general HPC programming skills, while remaining broadly interested in the theory and numerics of ODE and PDE.
