Citizen engagement for local communities, ocean predictions, innovations in climate risk assessment, effective warnings for climate hazards and climate stories from the Adriatic regions: join CMCC at ECCA 2023 in Dublin.

Europe’s 6th Climate Adaptation Conference, ECCA 2023, will take place in Dublin, Ireland, and online from 19 to 21 June 2023. The MAGICA project, coordinated by CMCC, organized the event together with the Joint Programme Initiative “Connecting Climate Knowledge for Europe” (JPI Climate) and with the support of the European Commission.

Structured around six Thematic Topics and more than 70 sessions, the in-person event of over two days is gathering more than 1000 attendees, with live streaming of all plenary sessions. ECCA 2023 is designed to act as a forum for knowledge and best practices exchange on climate adaptation and resilience building between policymakers, private sector actors and scientists, while nurturing a community of climate adaptation practices. The purpose of the conference is to inspire adaptation by showcasing solutions, exchanging knowledge, creating connections, and encouraging dialogue on how to act more and faster at every level.

CMCC Researchers from the various research divisions will take part in the event giving presentations during five different sessions of the conference:

  • 20/06, 14:15-16:00 Session: Coastal, riverine and urban flooding
    Future projections of a salt-wedge estuary under a changing climate: impact of the sea level rise and evaluation of a nature-based-solution.

  • 20/06, 16:30-17:45 Session: Working with communities, demystifying local knowledge
    Enhancing citizen engagement, improving access to and use of climate data, and fighting climate change disinformation: the pillars of the Digital AGORA platform.

  • 21/06, 09:00-11:00 Session: Mission
    Innovations in climate risk assessment – concepts, frameworks, toolboxes, platforms, hubs and services.
