On November 7, 2019, the CMCC Foundation will participate in Ecomondo, the leading event in Europe for the new models of circular economy. An international exhibition with an innovative format that brings together all sectors of the circular economy in a single platform: from material and energy recovery to sustainable development. More in detail, the CMCC co-organizes with Climate-KIC Italy the event “Il futuro dell’acqua” (the event will be held in Italian).

Water is a resource for human beings, science, technology and the environment. Water is a vital and fundamental resource, but it’s increasingly a vulnerable resource.

Energy, agriculture, domestic water use, etc., they are all competing sectors for the use of water; moreover, climate change impacts and risks could also exacerbate the equilibrium of such a fragile sector. The most recent EU policies on water have the objective to guarantee and protect the quality of water. An adequate water supply of usable quality is fundamental for any economic and social growth, in particular in the Mediterranean countries where water scarcity will become a challenging issue for sustainable development. It’s therefore essential to adopt a holistic approach for water management and the development of adequate solutions to address water scarcity.
Climate services can represent useful solutions for an adequate management and protection of water resources and for planning short- and long-term strategies and actions.

The event will explore how different economic sectors will address the issue of water resources, in the framework of a dialogue between science, innovation, companies, public authorities and stakeholders to foster innovation and guarantee a sustainable management of water resources.
