Earth sciences, climate change, mitigation/adaptation strategies, national and international policy analysis, unique health, and promoting multidisciplinary training. Several PhD positions are now available at the University of Bologna thanks to the support of CMCC Foundation. Deadline for applications is June 20, 2023.
In the context of the PhD program in “Future Earth, Climate Change and Societal Challenges”, 8 PhD scholarships are funded by CMCC through a collaboration between the “Alma Mater Studiorum” University of Bologna and the CMCC Foundation.
Positions are available on the following topics:
- The double ITCZ in coupled models and its impacts on teleconnections
- Modelling the ecosystem response to the impact of extreme hazards on marine plankton
- New ocean model generation for coastal climate variability
- Coastal earth system climate modeling
- Enhancing the users’ experience of ocean web applications
- Global Coastal Ocean Modelling on Unstructured Meshes
- Innovative governance approaches to resolve social conflicts associated with Sea level Rise in Europe
- Interdependent role of radiative forcing, land-use and land management on present and future climate scenarios
The learning outcomes align with the Sustainable Development Goals. PhD students will actively contribute to designing and implementing solutions, strategies and policies for sustainable development in the 21st century, researching ways to protect human, animal and environmental health, based on an advanced understanding of the risks deriving from climate change.
The program will train professionals in the fields of earth and climate sciences, food production, economics, human health in the environmental context and social sciences in the context of climate change for careers in academia, research, government, industry and international organizations.
