The 7th European Climate Change Adaptation Conference (ECCA2025) will be held from June 16 to 18, 2025, in Rimini, Italy, bringing together key stakeholders to accelerate climate adaptation efforts across Europe. Under the theme “Smarter, Faster, and More Systemic Adaptation in Europe”, the event will showcase solutions, bridge gaps between research and practice, and foster new collaborations.
The conference will be hosted by the CMCC Foundation, in partnership with JPI Climate and the Horizon Europe-funded project MAGICA. As a recognized leader in climate research and innovation, CMCC plays a central role in coordinating the event, ensuring that cutting-edge scientific knowledge informs real-world solutions for climate adaptation.
Themes and Call for Proposals
ECCA2025 will offer a platform for dialogue among scientists, policymakers, practitioners, and businesses. The call for scientific and policy-based sessions aligned with the conference’s five key themes is now open.
The themes are:
- Living with climate extremes
- Managing cities to be fit for the future
- Protecting coastal and mountain areas
- Human and legal dimensions of change
- Adaptation finance: reducing communities’ economic or social vulnerabilities
The deadline for submissions is February 24, 2025.
MAGICA and JPI Climate
CMCC is at the forefront of MAGICA, a Horizon Europe project launched in June 2022 to accelerate the flow of knowledge from research to policy. Coordinated by Giulia Galluccio of CMCC, MAGICA supports the work of JPI Climate, a key European initiative dedicated to connecting climate knowledge and promoting transnational research collaborations.
ECCA2025 promises to be a pivotal event for the climate adaptation community, offering a unique space to exchange ideas, present solutions, and inspire action. Stay tuned for more updates on the conference, including details on keynote speakers, program highlights, and networking opportunities.
