The “Countdown” kicks off on October 10, 2020. The global project promoted by TED to face the climate crisis by transforming ideas into action offers a rich calendar of events. The CMCC Foundation is among the partners of the Italian national project that contributes to the initiative.

“Countdown” is a global initiative to champion and accelerate solutions to the climate crisis, turning ideas into action. The project, promoted and organized by TED in collaboration with the Future Stewards coalition, kicks off on October 10, 2020 with a free virtual event on TED’s YouTube channel from 11am – 5pm ET, when more than 50 speakers in five curated sessions will reflect on practical actions to fight and face the climate challenge. Building on the ideas shared during the launch of the project, the Countdown organizers will work with partners to support a series of cross-sector projects. Each project will set specific, bold goals and drive fresh commitments and action in the lead-up to the Countdown Summit (October, 2021) and to the UN Climate Change Conference (COP26, November, 2021).

The project is amplified in Italy thanks to the collaboration of the national community of Italian TEDx organizers, that built a national program of local Countdown events in several Italian cities. The CMCC Foundation is part of the network of institutional partners that supports the national Italian program, which is sponsored by the Italian Ministry of the Environment, Land and Sea.

The Italian agenda includes 19 virtual and in-person events, which will take place from 10 to 18 October addressing the different themes of the TED Countdown. The events will combine global with local content through recorded video-talks, live round tables, interviews, workshops, and activities aimed at fostering awareness and responsibility for climate action.
