CMCC is proud to continue supporting the Directorate-General for European Civil Protection and Humanitarian Aid Operations (DG ECHO) in implementing the new cycle of Union Civil Protection Mechanism (UPCM) Peer Review Programme. This cycle will include six reviews, contributing to strengthen civil protection and disaster risk management across Europe and beyond. The deadline to submit expressions of interest is 31 January 2025.

The Union Civil Protection Mechanism (UCPM) Peer Review Programme is entering a new cycle for 2025-2027, and CMCC is proud to play a key role in supporting the Directorate-General for European Civil Protection and Humanitarian Aid Operations (DG ECHO) in this initiative.

This program, a cornerstone of the UCPM, empowers countries and regions to enhance their disaster preparedness and prevention systems. Through a collaborative review process involving DG ECHO, international experts (peers), and local civil protection authorities, the programme offers tailored insights to help participating countries and regions address natural and human-made disasters.

The European Commission has launched a call for expressions of Interest to identify countries and regions that wish to undergo a peer review during the first phase of the new cycle. The deadline for submissions is 31 January 2025.

The upcoming cycle will consist of up to six peer reviews, with the first three slots open for 2025-2026. Eligible applicants include EU Member States, UCPM Participating States, and Enlargement and Neighbourhood countries. These reviews provide a valuable opportunity for nations to reflect on their readiness, assess vulnerabilities, and strengthen civil protection systems.

CMCC’s involvement highlights its commitment to advancing resilience and disaster risk management across Europe and beyond, reinforcing the importance of preparedness in the face of increasing climate and disaster-related challenges.

Countries and regions wishing to participate should contact DG ECHO at [email protected].
