The CMCC is providing two fully funded scholarships for the PhD Programme on Science and Management of Climate Change 2024-2028 which is now open for applications.

The PhD in Science and Management of Climate Change brings together the science and economics of climate change under a joint initiative between the Euro-Mediterranean Center on Climate Change (CMCC) and Ca’ Foscari University of Venice (UNIVE).

CMCC is providing funding for two scholarships for each of the 39th, 40th, and 41st cycles and will also contribute to the teaching and supervision of the course, as well as providing the necessary facilities and equipment for activities conducted on its premises.

The PhD course includes one year of full-time coursework, worldwide research opportunities and connections to a broad international network of top-level universities and research centres in the field, as well as placement in highly renowned institutions.

The programme is conducted entirely in English and key research themes include:

  • Dynamics of climate variations and change
  • Ocean Dynamics
  • Glaciology
  • Polar Climate and Sea Ice
  • Assessment of biophysical and socio-economic impacts of climate change and adaptation strategies
  • Analysis of national and international mitigation and adaptation policies in the context of sustainable development
  • Risk assessment and decision support systems (DSS) for environmental impacts of climate
