As the volume of climate-related data continues to grow, the challenge lies not only in managing this data but in effectively utilizing it to uncover the underlying processes that drive climate dynamics. The Future Earth Research School Winter Course on Data-Driven Modeling and Predictions of the Earth System aims to provide essential tools and methodologies for understanding and interpreting complex relationships within Earth system data. Deadline for application is October 17, 2024.

The CMCC Foundation has launched the next edition of the Future Earth Research School (FERS), an international school entirely focused on environmental sustainability and climate change. Applications are now open for the Winter Course on Data-Driven Modeling and Predictions of the Earth System, taking place from December 9 to 20, 2024 in Bertinoro, Italy.

This intensive course, directed by Dr. Aneesh Subramanian from the Atmospheric and Oceanic Sciences Department at the University of Colorado Boulder, will equip successful applicants with essential tools and methodologies for understanding and interpreting complex relationships within Earth system data. Participants will explore the mathematical foundations of data-driven modeling, focusing on techniques for analyzing and predicting the behavior of complex dynamical systems.

This course reinforces CMCC’s commitment to advancing climate science education and research. By bringing together leading experts and enthusiastic learners, it aims to foster a deeper understanding of climate processes and improve predictive capabilities within the field.
