Elisa Furlan, Ph.D. in Environmental Science at the University Ca’ Foscari Venice, is Junior Scientist in climate risk, impact and vulnerability assessment at the Euro-Mediterranean Center on Climate Change. Her research focuses on the development and application of multidisciplinary risk assessment methodologies for the evaluation of the interactions, and possible cumulative effects, among different climate-driven in combination with local/global anthropogenic factors affecting coastal and marine areas. She has been involved in several European projects (TRITON, SAVEMEDCOASTS, PERSEUS, OrientGate, CLIMRUN, PEGASO) contributing to the design and application of risk- based approaches for the assessment of potential impacts arising from future climate change scenarios and management measures. With a joint M.Sc. degree in Environmental planning and policies with the University of Architecture of Venice (IUAV) and the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona (UAB), she has more than 15 years of experience in the development and implementation of Geographic Information System (GIS), integrating multi-criteria decision analysis methodologies (MCDA) for the assessment and management of environmental issues, as well as the design and selection of planning options and adaptation strategies.
