Farooq Umar

Umar Farooq’s research at CMCC focuses on assessing the role of Carbon Dioxide Removal (CDR) in achieving climate neutrality, as part of the RESCUE project. His work involves evaluating the climate and environmental impacts of CDR pathways, including potential risks and co-benefits.
Umar holds a PhD in Civil Engineering from Washington State University, where he used the Earth System Model to study global lake evaporation and its response to climate variability.
For his MS thesis, he assessed the hydrological impacts of climate change on the Jhelum River Basin. He also contributed to updating Pakistan’s agroecological zones at theUniversity of Agriculture, Faisalabad.
