The call for applications for admission to the 40th cycle of PhD courses at Unisalento is now open. The CMCC has funded three scholarships within the PhD program in Engineering of Complex Systems, with a focus on the topics of Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, and Big Data applied to climate science and Earth systems. The deadline for submitting applications is set for July 15, 2024, at 13:00 (CET).

The admission calls for the 40th cycle PhD courses, based at the University of Salento and lasting three years, have been published on the online notice board of Unisalento. The deadline for submitting applications is set for 13:00 (CET) on Monday, July 15, 2024.

In collaboration with Unisalento, the CMCC has allocated three scholarships within the PhD program in Engineering of Complex Systems, with one scholarship for each of the following areas: Analysis and development of Quantum Machine Learning approaches for Climate Change applications, AI-driven foundation model for Earth system predictions, and Data-driven approaches for data assimilation in Numerical Weather Prediction.

In recent years, the complexity of engineered products has increased exponentially. Improving characteristics and functions of existing products, creating innovative products, or new production and distribution systems for goods and services (smart grids, smart factories, smart cities, etc.) is increasingly important. The scholarships allocated by the CMCC create a direct link between the theme of complex systems engineering with climate and earth systems sciences.
