The PhD Programme in Science and Management of Climate Change

The PhD Programme in Science and Management of Climate Change prepares experts with a broad and thorough scientific background in economics, climate science, valuation techniques and with specific modelling skills. The programme – conducted entirely in English – offers a 4-year fully funded scholarship, including one year of full-time coursework, with worldwide research opportunities and connections to a broad international network of top-level universities and research centers in the field, as well as placement in highly renowned institutions afterwards.

The 2022/2023 call for applications is now online with deadline May 2nd, 2022.

The 2nd-level Master of Research in Science and Management of Climate Change

The Master of Research in Science and Management of Climate Change is a 1-year programme aimed at creating experts capable of managing the complex and multi-faceted dimensions of the grand challenges posed by climate risk by integrating the scientific and socio-economic aspects in a unique programme. It provides competencies that are key for researchers and professionals in companies with a strong vision of sustainability.

“Climate change is impacting all the sectors of our economy, and if we are not ready, we are doomed to be followers” said Prof. Wilmer Pasut, coordinator of the Master. “This Master provides the knowledge and tools to deal with, asses, mitigate, and provide informed answers to this game changer phenomenon.”

The Master, now at its fifth edition, includes the attendance to the courses of the first year of the PhD Programme in Science and Management of Climate Change, including labs, guest lectures from international experts, seminars, hands-on sessions, group activities, presentation of individual/group projects.

The multi-cultural dimension of the Programme is built on a consolidated network with leading international organisations and research centers worldwide. The Programme offers students a unique range of opportunities for both internships and placement: from local municipalities to private companies such as PwC, to climate consultancy such as Carbonsink, to NGOs such as Mar Fund, to international organizations such as the European Environmental Agency.

“We have established good collaborations with companies operating in any field directly or indirectly related to climate risk,” explained Prof. Enrica De Cian, Coordinator of the PhD Programme and Deputy Coordinator of the Master. “This year we have been exploring how the professional world is rapidly changing through a series of webinars, called jobs in transitions.”
