Mariaester Cassinelli is currently Division Manager of the “Sustainable Earth Modelling Economics” (SEME) Research Division at CMCC and Manager of the “RFF-CMCC European Institute on Economics and the Environment” (EIEE). Moreover she is involved as Project Manger and Senior Scientific Manager in several European and international research projects of the EIEE Institute and the SEME Research Division at CMCC.
Mariaester Cassinelli graduated in Environmental Sciences and in Sciences and Technologies for Environment and Land, and completed a Master in Information Technologies for the New Economy at the Bicocca University of Milan, Italy.
She worked as Project Manager and Senior Researcher at Fondazione Eni Enrico Mattei (FEEM) from 2003 to 2018. At FEEM she covered the role of Project Manager of several European and international research projects, even coordinated by FEEM, and of Programme Officer of the Research Programmes on “International Energy Markets” (IEM), on “Mitigation, Innovation and Transformation and Pathways” (MITP) and on “Climate and Sustainable Innovation” (CSI). From 2009 to 2018 she was also a member of FEEM’s “Fund-raising and Projects Office”, coordinating the management, reporting and audit of all FEEM’s funded projects. In 2018 she became the coordinator of FEEM’s “Projects Office”.
Her research activities mainly concern: Climate Change, Sustainable Tourism Management, Climate Change Adaptation in the Tourism Sector, Energy, Land and Environmental Planning, Coastal Zone Management, Sustainable Development Strategies, Environmental Politics, Environmental Education, Analysis of Global Changes, Economic and Environmental Valuation of Natural Resources and Data Envelopment Analysis applications.
She is also the president of a no-profit association working at the regional level to promote sustainable development through the planning and realisation of activities of environmental education for schools and public agencies.
